Lee Jamison's easel paintings have covered
many subjects over the years, but they break
down into three basic categories:
Fine art landscapes and portraits

History paintings

Illustration
When pages are complete for the categories
above you can click on them to be taken to
more complete explanations of pricing and
availability.

Fine art paintings are generally works the
artist does of his own subject for his own
reasons, but he may start from a client's idea
on commission. The painting shown at the
top to the right on this page, "Skipping
Stones", is an example of such a work.

History paintings have long been considered
the domain of the fine arts in European
traditions of art. Lee Jamison has an avid
interest in history, and particularly in Texas
history, where he has found much of the
existing work inaccurate and unenlightening.

Illustration is no less a "fine" art than either
of the other two categories, save that it often
includes paintings that are done as "work for
hire"  That is to say the client exercises a
great deal more creative control over the
work, sometimes effectively using the artist
as his or her creative hands.
